I caught this hungry and very large bat ( imagine a chihuahua with wings! ) in the Singapore Zoo, which is really one of the finest city zoos in the whole world! Okay, if it isn't a vampire bat, it is a flying fox..! Wow!
Yes, there were about half-a-dozen of them, sitting on the branch of the tree, right beside the viewing stand... Kids and everyone could practically reach out and touch them... They looked harmless. But they do have fangs. I think they might bite if frightened... But these zoo ones seemed pretty tame. It would make a neat pet, but only if you had a "tropical garden" in your back yard, I guess...
